This popular trek takes you to the ancient village of Malana whose inhabitants are said to have descended from Alexander The Great. The villagers here, have their own laws and customs, speak a different dialect and dress differently. The trail through beautiful Chandrakhani Pass offers glorious views of snow-clad peaks and thick carpets of birch and spruce. Stop at Malana village and drive back or continue trekking down to Rashol into Parvati valley.
Day 1: Drive to Naggar and trek up to Rumsu village campsite. (3 hrs)
Day 2: An easy climb through conifer forests to alpine meadows offers a magnificient view of the Pir Panjal range and peaks rising above 6000 mtrs. Overnight camp at the base of the Pass. (5 hrs)
Day 3: A lovely trail leads to Chandrakhani Pass and offers splendid view of Dhauladhar range, Parvati valley and Malana valley. Steep descent to Malana camp here. (6 hrs)
Day 4: Drive back to Manali today or continue your trek down past Malana River and steadily uphill to Rashol Pass to enter Parvati Valley. Easy descent to Rashol village and campsite. (5 hrs)
Day 5: Walk through deodar forests, cross the gushing Parvati River and reach Kasol. Drive to back to Manali. (4 hrs trek)
