Our Kullu-Manali packages are a combination of must-see sights as well as off the beaten track ones. Adding a trek into this mix helps you experience the mountains to the fullest. A suggested itinerary:

Shimla Kullu/Manali

 

 

 

Day 01: Chandigarh to Shimla (5/6 hrs)

Drive to Shimla, stopping at the monastery in Solan along the way. Set at an altitude of 2,213m, Shimla was once the summer capital of the British administration in India and is now the capital of Himachal Pradesh. This queen of hill stations still retains its colonial charm in its architecture. Evening walk around The Mall.
Day 02: Shimla sightseeing
Visit Jakhoo, an ancient temple devoted to Lord Hanuman, situated on Jakhoo Hill. This is Shimla’s highest peak and offers panoramic views of the Shivalik Ranges. Go on an excursion to Kufri & Narkanda, popular for their trekking trails, pine-scented air and beautiful views all around. Narkanda is also located close to the prime apple belt and is a ski-resort in winter.
Day 03: Shimla to Manali (8 hrs)
Drive to Manali (2050m) at the Northern end of the Kullu Valley. Manali is surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks and the snowline is never more than a few hours’ drive away. Stop at placid Bilaspur Lake and Hanogi Mata temple set among the mountainous backdrop along the way. Check in to hotel.
Day 04: Manali sightseeing
Visit the Hadimba temple, Vasisht Baths, Manu Temple and Tibetan monastery. Chill in Old Manali, imbibe the local ambience and shop for souvenirs at the Tibetan Market on the Mall. Take a trip to Solang Valley and try your hand at paragliding.
Day 05: Manali-Bijli Mahadev-Manali
Bijli Mahadev is a famous an ancient Shiva temple situated atop a beautiful meadow. It is a 3km walk from Mansari village and offers stunning views of both the Parvati Valley and Kullu Valley.
Day 06: Manali-Naggar-Jana-Manali
On the left bank of the river Beas, Naggar is a pictureque village on the wooded slope. It used to be the capital of the Kullu rajas and you can visit their heritage castle there. Naggar was also home to the Russian artist Roerich, whose house has now been converted into a museum. Visit some of the famous temples in and around Naggar as well and continue on to Jana for authentic and tasty Himachali food. Walk up to the beautiful waterfall there and wind your way back to Manali.
Day 07: Manali – Kasol (trek to Malana and back to Kasol)
This extremely scenic drive takes you from the relatively gentle Beas river to the roaring and angry Parvati. On the way to Kasol, take a detour to Malana. The road goes almost to the village, after which its a easy and picturesque two hour walk. Malana village is a small cluster of around two hundred stone roof houses. Its inimitable culture and the temple of Jamlu distinguish the village whose inhabitants are said to have descended from Alexander The Great. The villagers here, have their own laws and customs, speak a different dialect and dress differently. Drive to Kasol and check-in to hotel.

Day 8: Kasol – Manikaran – Parashar

Continue on from Kasol and reach the famous hot springs of Manikaran, sacred to both Hindus and Sikhs. Walk around this holy town, visit the temples and gurudwara and take a dip in the hot spring baths. Continue on to Parashar lake stopping at the ancient Bajaura temple on the way. This temple is said to have been constructed by the Pandavas when they were in exile. Reach the beautiful lake, in the centre of green hillocks, held sacred to the sage Parashar. A mysterious floating island that keeps changing position throughout the year adds to the charm as does a three-tiered Pagoda-like temple dedicated to the sage. The whole vista is encircled by snow-capped peaks. The lakeside and the nearby villages are sites of various festivals held at different times of the year. Camping overnight at Parashar Lake.

Day 09: Parashar – Rewalsar

Continue on down to the scenic Rewalsar lake, past the town of Mandi. Lying in a mountain hollow, the lake is held sacred to all three communities, evidenced by the three shrines – a Buddhist Monastery, a Sikh Gurudwara and a Hindu Temple. The lake is famous for its floating islands which, according to the myths, can be moved by prayer or breeze. Stay overnight here.

Day 1o: Rewalsar – Chandigarh

Drive down to the plains from Rewalsar. Drop-off at hotel in Chandigarh.

Kinnaur

Buddhist monasteries in Himachal are as much a part of the landscape and the people as the mountains. This package takes you through the most artistic monasteries in Himachal and immerses you in the lesser known cultures of Kinnaur and Spiti. Start your trip in Shimla and continue on to Sangla in Kinnaur District. The Nyingma-pa, Drug-pa and Geluk-pa sects are well represented here and Kinnaur is home to 33 Buddhist monasteries. Visit the recently built gompa in Rekong Peo, and continue on to the ancient settlement of Kalpa to visit the Hu-Bu-lan-kar gompa, said to have been founded by Rinchensang-po. Leave for Spiti valley, which is completely immersed in Buddhism from the footprint of Padmasambhava on a rock near Nako, past monastic villages, ancient monastery complex in Tabo, to the internationally renowned Ki monastery near Kaza. Spend a day in Manali experiencing Kullu culture at its best and proceed to McLeodganj/Dharamshala the current residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. End your journey at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Dalhousie

Day 1: Chandigarh to Amritsar
Drive past the green fields of Punjab (yellow, if the mustard plants are flowering) and reach Amritsar, about 240 kms away. Check-in to hotel and evening is free to walk around the colourful local bazaars.
Day 2: Amritsar sightseeing
Start you day with blessing from the Golden Temple again, if you wish, and move on to Jallianwala Bagh. This is one of the most important sites of the Indian Freedom Movement – where, on April 13, 1919, British and Gurkha soldiers opened fire on an unarmed civilians. In the evening visit the Indo-Pak Wagah Border to watch the Flag Retreat Ceremony.
Day 3: Amritsar to Dalhousie
Morning drive to Dalhousie, located on the outer slopes of the Dhauladhar range. This is the gateway to Chamba and an important hill resort in the district. The area is chock-full of picturesque walks through oak, pine and deodar forests and lovely picnic spots. Check in to your hotel, stroll around the beautiful surroundings and if you’re lucky, catch a spectacular sunset.
Day 4: Dalhousie sightseeing
Visit Khajjiar, also known as “A Mini Switzerland”, a lush, green meadow located in the picturesque Chamba valley. Here you will find the 12th-century Khajjinag temple dedicated to the local Goddess. Kalatop, close by, is a dense deodar and fir forest sanctuary with numerous well laid out trekking trails. Dainkund mountain, locally known as the singing hill, at 2745m provides breathtaking views of the surrounding regions. Visit the ancient town of Chamba on the banks of the Ravi river and get in a few of its numerous temples and palaces.
Day 5: Dalhousie – Dharamshala
Early morning drive to Dharamshala. Dharamshala, enfolded on three sides by the mountains, is divided into lower and upper towns. McLeodganj is part of the upper town. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel.
Day 6: Dharamshala sightseeing
Take in the calmness and serenity of Dharamsala with its towering pine trees and tea gardens. Visit the Dalai Lama Temple complex, the seat of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. Continue on to Bhagsunag, known for its old temple, a fresh water spring and waterfalls, one of the main attractions of McLeodganj.
Day 7: Dharamshala – Naggar/Manali
The drive to Manali (2050m) at the Northern end of the Kullu Valley will take you past the tea gardens of Palampur. Take a small detour to the charming village of Andretta, where you can see Norah Richards, the Irish writer’s, quaint mudhouse. Andretta is also famous for its glazed pottery. Stop over at Bir for a bout of adventure – paragliding. Reach our home base at Naggar (20kms) from Manali, surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks with the snowline never more than a few hours’ drive away. Stay at our homestay, eat and learn to cook traditional Himachali food.
Day 8: Manali sightseeing
Visit the Hadimba temple, Vasisht Baths, Manu Temple and Tibetan monastery. Chill in Old Manali, imbibe the local ambience and shop for souvenirs at the Tibetan Market on the Mall.
Day 9: 10: 11:  Chanderkhani Trek
The trail from Naggar through the heritage village of Rumsu and all the way up to beautiful Chanderkhani Pass offers glorious views of snow-clad peaks and thick carpets of birch and spruce. Spend two nights up among the pristine peaks,  camp on top and descend back to Naggar.

Day 12: Naggar to Chandigarh/Delhi

Spiti Valley Tour

                        Manali-Spiti-Kinnaur-Shimla Tour (10 days)
Manali – Lossar – Kaza – Tabo – Kalpa – Sangla – Shimla – Chandigarh

Spend a day visiting local sites and sampling Himachali home-cooked fare in Naggar/Manali and set off across Rohtang Pass to Spiti. Visit the high altitude Chandertaal Lake and spend the night at the quaint village of Lossar in Spiti. Take in the harsh and dramatic landscape of Spiti from the heights of world famous Ki monastery and the high altitude Kibber village. From the mountain deserts of Spiti travel through Tabo with its well-preserved and ancient cave paintings to the intense green of Kinnaur valley and take in the snow-capped peaks of Kinner-Kailash in Kalpa. The detour to Sangla valley before continuing on to Shimla and Chandigarh is well worth it and one of the highlights of the trip.

Day 3: Manali to Chandertaal. Stay at Lossar
Travel over Rohtang Pass to Batal and walk to the crystal clear waters of Chandertaal lake. Overnight camping at Chandratal lake or drive from Batal over the Kunzam Pass (4558 m) to enter the starkly beautiful Spiti Valley stay at guesthouse in the first village as you enter Spiti Valley – Lossar.
Day 4: Lossar to Kaza
Drive past small villages of little whitewashed houses with flat straw roofs and reach the relatively large town of Kaza. Check-in to hotel at Kaza.
Day 5: Kaza – Ki, Kibber, Komic (Day Excursion)
In the morning, visit the Ki monastery which looks like a higgledy-piggledy anthill of buildings stuck together from afar, and is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors inside. This centuries old gompa at one time also acted as a fort. It houses valuable thangkas and offers a panoramic view of the area. Continue further up and feel on top of the world at Kibber and Komic, which have the distinction of being the highest permanently inhabited villages of the region. Return to Kaza and spend some time in the local market shopping for turquoise beads, silver jewellry, singing bowls and prayer flags.
Day 6: Kaza to Dhankar and Tabo
Drive to Tabo, dropping in at Dhankar gompa along the way. Dhankar gompa rests high over the valley and served as a fort to the ruler of Spiti. Tabo, built in 996 AD, is renowned for its breathtaking murals and stucco images and is often called “The Ajanta of the Himalayas”. Return to hotel in Kaza.
Day 7: Tabo to Kalpa
Enter the intense green of Kinnaur valley and take in the snow-capped peaks of Kinner-Kailash in Kalpa.
Day 8: Kalpa to Sangla. Overnight Saran
Enter the gorgeous Sangla Valley and drive upto Chitkul which is the last village before Tibet.
Day 9: Saran to Shimla and stay overnight

Amritsar-Dharamshala

Amritsar Dharamshala Manali Tour (10 days)
Chandigarh – Amritsar – Dharamshala – Manali

This trip includes all the must-dos on everyone’s list like the Golden Temple and the thick Punjabi lassi (a meal in itself!) in Amritsar, Monastery at McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala’s gushing waterfall, Manali’s Hadimba temple and the ancient castle in Naggar. But in addition to this, we add in our off the beaten track touches to make the trip a memorable one. Experience Paragliding in Bir, where the 2015 Paragliding World Cup was held, and land in a picturesque Tibetan village. End your trip with a 3 day trek to Chanderkhani Pass which brings you up close and personal with the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.

Leh-Ladakh

 

Manali – Leh/Ladakh:     10 Days
Manali – Keylong – Leh

The Manali-Leh highway intersects with ancient Silk Routes and is one of the most scenic ways to enter Ladakh.

Spend a day visiting local sites and sampling Himachali home-cooked fare in Naggar/Manali and set off across Rohtang Pass to Lahaul. Travel along the Chandra and Bhaga rivers to Keylong and visit monasteries and waterfalls. Continue the drive along the spectacularly scenic Manali-Leh highway with one night on the road. Option to stay in Swiss tents, pitch our own tents and camp overnight or stay in little dhabas along the highway. An HBA special detour on this drive is a visit to Tso Kar lake in Ladakh teeming with birds and wildlife. In addition to touring Leh, spend a few days at gorgeous Pangong lake and Nubra Valley.

Day 1:
Manali – Keylong
Start from Kullu valley and travel along winding roads to cross the 3,979m high Rohtang Pass and enter the valley of Lahaul. Drive along the River Chandra with views of towering mountains and glaciers. Arrive at Keylong, a small town and the district headquarters. Check into hotel for overnight stay
Day 2:
Keylong sightseeing
Spend the day in this little town and visit the 900-year old Khardong monastery, a 4 km uphill walk from town and the Shashur gompa, about 3 kms away. Shop in the local markets for shawls, local tweeds, silver jewellery, footwear, rugs, metal craft and olive and almond oil.
Day 3: Keylong – Sarchu
Driving north on the Manali-Leh Highway, you will see some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Western Himalayas. Visit the Jispa Folk Museum and the crystal clear lakes of Deepak Tal and Suraj Tal. The landscape changes to stark and barren as we climb up to the second mountain pass – the 5,000m high Baralacha La. From the pass you will have beautiful views of meadows and snow-capped mountains. Reach Sarchu and check-in at your camp.
Day 4: Sarchu – Leh
The last leg of your journey consists of more passes, emerald lakes and flat plains. Drive down from Baralacha La and climb up the Gatta Loops, a series of 21 hairpin bends and wind your way up Nakeela Pass and onto the Lachung La pass (5,059 m) with spectacular views. Twist your way to Pang through amazing canyons with sheer cliffs on both sides of the road. Ascend up to the Pang Plateau, also known as the More Plains, encircled by snow-capped peaks. Climb to Tanglang La (5292m), one of the highest motorable roads in the world, this pass gives way to beautiful views of the Karakoram Mountains and the Ladakh valley. There’s lots of opportunity to see wildlife along the way. Descend till Rumtse and drive through the Indus valley to Leh.
Day 5: Leh – Local sightseeing
Visit Shey monastery, Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Hemis monastery.
Day 6: Leh – Nubra
Cross Khardung La, the worlds highest motorable pass (5359m), to reach Nubra valley in the northernmost part of Ladakh sandwiched between Tibet  and J&K. Visit the monastery, take in the giant Buddha statue and take a ride on the double humped Bactrian camels in the sand dunes.
Day 7: Nubra-Leh
Start back to Leh. Spend some time in the Leh markets stuffed full of jewellery, pashmina shawls, turquoise and exotic treasures.
Day 8: Leh-Pangong
Set off for Pangong Lake, the largest high altitude lake (4595m) in the Trans-Himalayan range,past the Changtang plateau. It is also known as the Lake of Changing Colours – especially on  a sunny day. Enjoy sunset at lake and stay overnight at homestay or camp.
Day 9: Pangong-Leh
Spend half the day at Pangong and travel back to Leh.
Day 10: Leh-Guru Govinda Pathar Sahib/Rafting
On the way to rafting on the Zanskar River, visit the beautiful gurudwara built in 1517 dedicated to Guru Nanak, on the Leh-Kargil road.
Day 11: Fly out of Leh airport to Delhi.
